The English Folk Dance and Song Society

There is lots of interesting information and links on this website

THE ENGLISH FOLK DANCE AND SONG SOCIETY

The English Folk Dance and Song Society (EFDSS) is the national folk arts development organisation for England. Through programmes of performance, participation and education at its head quarters, Cecil Sharp House in North London, and around England, it seeks to support artists and practitioners and engage people in folk arts activities.
Click here to go to their website http://www.efdss.org/

I've put this link on the 'Useful Links' page (I've made the page now!)

Digital Tradition Song Database

There is a website which allows you download a very useful song database.
Click on the link or copy the address to the address bar of your browser
http://mudcat.org/download.cfm

It is all free and seems to have a wealth of information. I will also put a link on the 'Useful Links' page (or I will when I have constructed it!)

Next meeting

We meet again on Wednesday November 28th at 7.30pm in Woodborough’s Parish Room

Pewsey Vale Folk Choir starts

Last night saw the first get together of people who wanted to sing, share ideas about singing, and learn new (old) songs. With feet firmly in traditional music we decided our gatherings will be paper-free zones where we’ll learn everything by ear and improvise at will!
This site will serve as a reminder about songs gathered to date and as an archive for lyrics. Everyone has ownership so please feel free to post comments and add information.
If you’re visiting the site for the first time and would like to join the choir, please do come along to the next gathering, or click here contact us for more details.
